A little bit about THE services WE OFFER TO DELIVER OUR MODEL...
psychotherapy
Psychotherapy is a talk therapy, which involves exploring the issues or circumstances of life that cause discomfort or distress. It can be short term and focused on one particular issue, or long term as we delve deeper into the psyche. Often the first question someone might have, is what the difference is between psychotherapy and counselling. The answer is that there is very little difference and it’s up to the individual practitioner which service they offer, although the training for psychotherapy is often longer and the requirements for qualification harder to meet. Jess is trained in psychology, counselling and psychotherapy. She prefers the term psychotherapy because it conveys that there is the chance to go deeper within than a typical counselling session might involve.
We all grow up being conditioned, or programmed, by our environment. We form beliefs according to what is around us, such as whether the world is safe or dangerous, or whether other people can be relied upon. Those beliefs often lie in the subconscious mind, governing the way we live in adulthood, without us even realising that’s the case. Beliefs can leave us behaving in ways that don’t serve us. For instance, reaching for a drink to self soothe, or people pleasing, or a strong avoidance of conflict leaving us prone to putting up with the toxic behaviour of others. In longer term psychotherapy we aim to consider that conditioning and uncover any unhealthy beliefs we may have formed at a young age, such as I’m not good enough, or I’m unlovable, in order to continue life feeling so much better in ourselves.
Our approach is based on numerous different trainings, but in long term therapy it usually looks at the trauma someone has suffered. Often we consider trauma as a massive event such as sexual abuse, an accident or earthquake, and these are often traumatic events, but in fact trauma is much more subtle than that. Any occurrence in childhood that overwhelmed our capacity to cope, which wasn’t met by adequate caregiving, will have left a trauma imprint. That means those of us who grew up being seen and not heard, or being whacked for being cheeky, or sent to our rooms to think about what we’d done, or being terrified of an angry parent, or made to feel as if we were responsible for how a parent felt, may have childhood trauma imprints.
KINESIOLOGY
Kinesiology is a holistic therapy which consists of nutritional, structural, emotional and electrical methods of assessing and improving general health. By testing muscles of the body, Kinesiology listens to which areas of the body have imbalances and it offers corrections according to each individual body.
During a balance, you can expect to receive nutritional advice, guidance on the specific supplements your body wants, have underlying problems behind symptoms found, and find out a whole other lot of information according to your own body.
Kinesiology is particularly suitable for anyone who has exhausted the treatment options available from their doctor, and is seeking alternative ways to help themselves. It can help with a range of chronic conditions, such as IBS, autoimmune, chronic fatigue, endometriosis, menstrual issues, adrenal fatigue, anxiety, fertility, digestive problems, low energy or mood, chronic stress, insulin resistance and basically any other way in which you don’t feel as if your health is at an optimum level.
Muscle testing can feel a little odd at first, because we’re not used to it, but it is a genius way to communicate with what’s going on in the body and subconscious mind.
breathwork
Held both individually and in classes, breathwork is an increasingly popular alternative health modality. In most of our sessions we teach the conscious connected breath technique, alongside a playlist of music designed to stimulate the nervous system into its sympathetic state, before the music slows and the breath drops us into the parasympathetic state of rest.
Breathwork is a deep modality that has a profound range of benefits for health. When we connect with the breath we are becoming aware of our minds and bodies, as well as stimulating feel good hormones. We oxygenate the blood and stimulate circulation. Some participants have experienced a health recovery during a session, others have found it ‘a little bit trippy’. Some have an emotional release and feel much better for it afterwards. The experiences vary and are different every time for each person. We hold a safe and supportive space for everyone who is participating and both our feedback and return rate are very positive.
In general people enjoy Breathwork and are surprised by how much they experience simply as a result of breathing!
qi gong
Qi Gong is an ancient Chinese practice that harmonises movement, breath, and intention to cultivate and balance the body’s vital energy, known as “Qi.” Rooted in Taoist philosophy and traditional Chinese medicine, it is both a meditative and physical discipline, combining gentle flowing movements, focused breathing, and mindful awareness. Qi Gong promotes physical vitality, emotional balance, and spiritual clarity, serving as a pathway to greater health and inner harmony. Often described as a moving meditation, it connects the practitioner to the rhythms of nature and the deeper flow of life.
Nei Gong, meaning “Internal Work,” is a profound practice rooted in Taoist tradition that focuses on cultivating inner energy and awakening the deeper layers of the self. It is an internal alchemy that combines stillness, breath control, and meditative awareness to transform the body’s energy (Qi) and integrate the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of being. Unlike outward forms of movement, Nei Gong emphasizes working with the subtle flows of energy within, refining the practitioner’s connection to their true essence. It is both a path of self-mastery and a journey toward balance, vitality, and spiritual realisation
